  • Allow setting and displaying icons between 1×1 and 100×100 pixels for ICQ. Previously only icons between 48×48 and 52×64 were allowed.

  • Direct messages to a specific resource only upon receipt of a message with content (as opposed to a typing notification, etc). (Thanks to rjoly for testing)

  • When sending data using in-band-bytestreams, interpret the block-size attribute as the size of the BASE64-encoded representation of the data.
  • Validate the hash on incoming BoB data objects (for custom smileys etc.), cache based per JID when the CID is not a valid hash (as specified by the BoB XEP).
  • Send whitespace keepalives if we haven’t sent data in a while (2 minutes). This fixes an issue with Openfire disconnecting a libpurple-baesd client that has just been quiet for about 6 minutes.
  • Only support Google Talk’s JID Domain Discovery extension (allowing a user to log in with “@gmail.com” or “@googlemail.com” interchangeably) for those two domains. This change was made due to interoperability issues with some BOSH Connection Managers and namespaced attributes.

• Yahoo/Yahoo JAPAN
  • Attempt to better handle transparent proxies interfering with HTTP-based login.
  • Fix handling of P2P packets, thus fixing the loss of some messages.
  • Retrieve the pager server address from Yahoo!’s servers directly.
  • Removed the “Pager server” account option, as it is no longer needed.
  • The authentication code is now less order-sensitive with the components of the server’s response.

Automatické štartovanie programu spolu s operačným systémom nastavíme nasledovne:

• otvoríme si program Pidgin
• ideme na záložku Nástroje a zvolíme si položku Moduly (skratka je CTRL+U)
• v položke “Moduly ” si zvolíme “Možnosti pre Windows programu Pidgin 2.6.4″ (obrázok 1)
• následne zaškrtneme položku “Spustiť Pidgin pri štarte Windows” (obrázok 2)

Po tomto nastavení sa bude program Pidgin vždy štartovať s operačným systémom Windows.

V je potrebné si stiahnuť novú verziu Pidgin pre Váš operačný systém (Windows, Linux, Mac OS).

Pre operačný systém Windows (XP, Vista) pokračujte nasledovne:

• ukončíme spustený Pidgin
• stiahneme si najnovšiu verziu a jednoducho ju spustíme cez inštaler
• verzia 2.5.5 inštaluje novšie verzie GTK+, Pidgin, ktoré jednoducho necháme preinštalovať na novšiu verziu
• po inštalácii spustíme Pidgin a môžeme si skontrolovať aká je aktuálna verzia (pre slovenskú jazykovú verziu je to Pomocník -> O programe)
• pri inštalácii sa nemenia konfiguračné súbory, takže nestratíme aktuálne nastavenia používaných účtov
• verzia Pidgin 2.5.5 opravuje problémy s protokolom ICQ, takže je potrebné mať túto verziu aby sme mohli daný protokol používať

o Fixed a crash on Windows when removing a buddy’s alias.
o Update the Address Book when buddies’ friendly names change. This prevents seeing an outdated alias or not seeing an alias at all for buddies who are offline when you sign in.
o Update tokens for FindMembership and ABFindAll SOAP requests.
o We no longer try to send empty messages. This could happen when a message contained only formatting and that formatting was not supported on MSN.
o Buddies on both the Allow and Block list are now automatically removed from the Allow list. Users with this problem will now no longer receive an ADL 241 error. The problematic buddy should now appear on the buddy list and can be removed or unblocked as desired.

* XMPP
o Resources using __HOSTNAME__ substitution will now grab only the short hostname instead of the FQDN on systems which put the FQDN in the hostname. (Matěj Cepl)
o No longer send a ‘to’ attribute on an outgoing stanza when we haven’t received one. This fixes a registration bug as described in ticket #6635.

* Pidgin
o Tooltip windows now appear below the mouse cursor. (Kosta Arvanitis)
o Tooltip windows now disappear on keypress events. (Kosta Arvanitis)
o Tooltip windows no longer linger when scrolling the buddy list. (Kosta Arvanitis)

* Finch
o Allow rebinding keys to change the focused widget (details in the man-page, look for GntBox::binding)

Postup inštalácie je nasledovný:

1. stiahneme si repository pre Red Hat – Pidgin (pidgin.repo)
   
2. súbor pidgin.repo prekopírujeme do adresára /etc/yum.repos.d/
3. ako užívateľ root spustíme nasledovný príkaz:  yum install pidgin (pri bežnej instšalácii sa stane, že nie sú nainštalované všetky potrebné závislosti)

Pre inštaláciu je nutné, aby boli nainštalované tieto rpm balíky:

• cyrus-sasl-md5
• libsilc-1.0.2-2.fc6.i386.rpm
• libpurple-2.5.4-0.el5.i386.rpm
• gtkspell-2.0.11-2.1.i386.rpm
  

Keď máme tieto balíky nainštalované, tak môžeme spustiť inštaláciu Pidgin prostredníctvom príkazu yum. Výpis pri inštalácii je nasledovný:

Po inštalácii si stačí už len nakonfigurovať potrebný účet pre komunikáciu. Inštalácia bola robená na serverovej verzii linuxu, ale podobne nainštalujeme Pidgin aj pre verzie desktop. Tento postup je možné využiť pre deriváty Red Hat – Ferodu a CentOs.

1. spustíme program Pidgin
2. nakonfigurujeme si nový účet (prípadne pridáme nový účet) CTRL+A

• protokol: Facebook
• používateľské meno: (mailová adresa ktorou ste zaregistrovaný vo Facebook-u)
• heslo:  Vaše heslo pre prihlásenie do siete Facebook (heslo si môžete uložiť)
  

V možnosti používateľa si môžete zvoliť lokálnu prezývku prípadne zmeniť ikonu. Pokiaľ ste pripojený na internet priamo, tak nepotrebujete v pokročilých nastaveniach nič meniť.
